Yunnan Black Tea also known as Dian hong or Yunnan Red is select tea leaves that are fat with tender buds that are tightly curled. This tea began production in China's Yunnan Province during the early part of the 20th century. The leaves of the Yunnan Black Tea are black with golden hairs on the buds, and have a strong and invigorating aroma. When infused, the liquid is brassy red with a vivid sweetness that is smooth, rich, and audacious in flavor.

Customer Reviews

Full-bodied, smooth and rich

I love Yunnan black teas and found this one to have a wonderfully rich aroma right away. The brewed tea is full-bodied and rich, but still smooth compared to other teas of this type. There are some fruity qualities to this tea that really come through when I drank it iced. Overall a very good quality tea at a reasonable price.

This came in my first sampler pack and I absolutely love it. Very smooth, and can be used a second or third time depending on how much tea you use.

Loved this one and the yunnan gold. Both held up well to a bit of cream
Very nice

Flavorsome and deep tea with a rich taste and color. Slightly astringent, and will go bitter if steeped slightly too long. Very nice overall.
Grow to LOVE

I liked other Yunnans, and they were out of Yunnan Gold that I love, so I tried this. I wasn't so sure about the first cup, I don't know what I was expecting, but I quickly grew to like it. I'm ordering more now and am looking forward to it.

My current favorite morning tea, and it's usually good for two steepings as well. Great value.
Great Variety

This tea is somewhere between the Black dragon pearls and Golden Yunnan. It has the sweet quality of the pearls (which are a Yunnan) and a hint of the 'peppery' flavor in Yunnan Gold

Smokier than I prefer my Yunnan teas, but excellent, nonetheless.
I love this tea.

I liked the yunnan gold a lot, but it is so expensive to drink every day so I tried this. I like it just as much if not better. I'll definitely be buying more.
