Chickweed also known as Stellaria media grows abundantly in sunny open areas. In its natural state Chickweed is a small white flower with vibrant green stems known to contain a variety of beneficial properites including minerals, flavonoids and vitamin C. When incorporated into a healthy lifestyle that includes a well balanced diet and regular exercise, Chickweed Tea is effective in aiding long term weight loss by acting as a mild diuretic to help the body flush excess water and fat from the system. In order to prevent dehydration from the diuretic properties, it is recommended to drink no more than two to three cups per day. When infused the aroma is mellow and herbaceous with a flavor that is verdant and lush that can be enjoyed as much for its unique taste as for its health benefits.

  • Helps flush fat from the system
  • Helps the body flush excess water

One of the major benefits of drinking chickweed tea is that it is a diuretic, which means that it helps the body flush excess water or fat from the system, leading to regular urination and a cleansed, toned body. This can lead to weight loss almost immediately. Chickweed is also said to act as a mild laxative, and help increase the body's metabolism, which doubles the weight loss effect. It's important to stick to only two or three cups of the tea per day, however, or else you might overdo the diuretic effect and lose too much water, becoming dehydrated. Some care should be taken.

Another common use of chickweed tea is to relieve skin problems, perhaps due to its detoxifying effects. In addition, some will use it to help with bronchitis, coughing, and other respiratory ailments. Some have reported that it helps as an anti-inflammatory agent, fighting rheumatism, gout, and kidney problems. As a health tonic, this tea is most frequently taken in the spring, to help flush out the buildup and ill effects of a sedentary winter.

I just re-ordered my weight loss teas. The chickweed is earthy and takes a little getting used to but its diuretic properties work so i'm sticking with it.

This tea does taste very earthy and the first time I tried it I couldnt finish my cup. The 2nd time I decided to add a bit of honey and it really wasnt too bad. Hopefully it wont take long to notice the tea working its benefits.
Health benefits not taste

If you are drinking tea for the taste this one isn't for you. This one is ALL about the benefits. It's not horrible but in order for it to work for me I can't add sugar or honey. But mixing this with some herbal tea may make it more enjoyable. Don't over steep.
Earthy and deep

This is a unique earthy herbal beverage, not to be confused with a lovely chamomile or jasmine tea. At first I was put off by the the deep earthy aroma but after a few days I am finding that i actually am starting to enjoy the chickweed as a regular part of my diet and will hopefully reap its health benefits.
It will grow on you

I can see why a doctor recommended this, it is definitely a taste that has to grow on you. When I first opened the tea I was surprised at how earthy and woody it looked. It reminded me of a combination of earth and fresh hay. But having gotten accustomed to its unique taste and knowing the health benefits, I can think of worse ways to try and lose weight. I recommend mixing it with a little herbal tea if the flavor just isn't your cup of tea.
